The chapter analyzes traditional nonprofit organizations along with the notion of the nonprofit industrial complex. Drawing from feminist and other decolonizing approaches to organizations, the chapter considers several key domains of organizational life, such as transformative leadership models, consensus-decision making, progressive fundraising, and participatory evaluation. Offering critical engagement with evidence-based practice approaches, there is discussion on participatory and reflective forms of evaluation as a “critical living praxis” (Ledwith, 2016). The chapter articulates how healing justice can be centered in organizations in order to attend to moral injury, trauma, and burnout. The chapter concludes with a spotlight on youth organizing that takes root in schools, community centers, and after-school programs focusing on issues, such as racial and economic equity, LGBTQ issues, and public transportation.
