ABSTRACT

This chapter shows readers how to construct an assessment plan for an individual workshop that is designed to teach religious literacy. To do this, we enter each religious literacy workshop with four learning outcomes. By the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be able to define religious literacy; explain three concrete areas where religious literacy impacts their work or role at NYU; list and explain the resources available through Global Spiritual Life at NYU; and list religious centers/student groups on campus and explain their relationships to GSL. It is important to note that the levels of evaluation being examined by the rubric are larger than the scope of our actual Faith Zone workshop. In each workshop session, includes five components: Setting the Room; Personal Narrative; Unpacking Religious Literacy; Community Snapshot; Next Steps and Takeaways. The final step in the training is for participants to begin translating what they have learned into concrete action steps.
