ABSTRACT

Studies of the wound-healing effects of cultured allogeneic keratinocytes began many years ago. Studies of the wound-healing effects of cultured allogeneic keratinocytes began many years ago. During the following years, many investigators studied the use of allogeneic keratinocytes in healing partial thickness burns, ulcers and other wounds. They found that the cultures had impressive therapeutic value. One example of treatment of a deep partial thickness burn. Nine days after treatment with allogeneic keratinocytes, the wound was healed. The control, treated with conventional dressing, remained unhealed. Allogeneic keratinocytes promote healing when applied after facial dermabrasion for removal of acne scars. In spite of the facts that the effectiveness of therapy with allogeneic cultures has been conclusively demonstrated and that their use is without risk, allogeneic cultures have not been made available by any commercial/industrial entity.
