ABSTRACT
A form tutor is a teacher whose subject is the pupil herself. Some tutors like to spend time in their first tutor group session of the year having students fill in their timetables in their planners. This takes a lot of time and can be disastrous if students mess up their copying. Explain that the register is a legal document that may be used in court, so it must be accurate. Students will need to take the register fast and effectively every day, but they need a well-oiled routine and their cooperation. One technique to get the register done fast is to have everyone standing up until their name is called, and they can sit down quietly. Most schools send lots of information home about how to pay for school dinners and so on. There will always be some students who miss this or who do not understand cashless systems.
