ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses games and activity ideas as well as complete plans for students to try with their tutor group. Some need little or no preparation, others need a fair bit of input and planning, but all of them are tried and tested. Encouraging the whole tutor group to have a positive ethos and work together as a team takes preparation, planning and work. The group stands in a circle round the classroom and the players must throw the ball or bean bag to a person in the circle whose name they can remember, and call it loudly as they throw, so everyone can hear. Get the students to think of as many ways they can of greeting someone, including using foreign languages and customs. The tutor starts with a short phrase or with one word and the students either adds a phrase or one word to make a story.
