ABSTRACT

The Stroh’s formalism which has in recent years become very popular because of the widespread use of the matrix formulation is discussed for solving two dimensional anisotropic problems. In this formalism the stresses are obtained by differentiation of the stress function. All quantities are functions of complex variables , p is in general complex, are obtained on satisfaction of equation of motion. In a variety of problems, Green’s function is used and further applying it to line crack, elliptic inclusion, elliptic crack and contact problems are solved both in an infinite and also interface cracks. The Comninuo interface crack is discussed.
