ABSTRACT
Bilingual children do not always keep their two or more languages separate. Translanguaging - a skill for developing bilingualism. Translanguaging simply means receiving information in one language and using or applying it in the other language. It is a skill that happens naturally in everyday life. This skill needs to be developed systematically throughout the education system. Multimodality is what often sees in young children as they use several semiotic modes or different signs and symbols in order to make something meaningful to them. When used in connection with verbal communication it means all the things that help the speaker make her intentions or ideas clear. Multimodality is a relatively new term but the act of using different modes to express ideas and feelings is as old as culture. Language was traditionally the focus for the evaluation and development of young children's learning. Multimodality is an inter-disciplinary approach that understands communication and representation to be about more than language.
