ABSTRACT

Once the trauma-informed case formulation has been accepted, treatment recommendations can be made, and hopefully accepted by the client (and family). Following the themes of the case formulation, recommendations will focus on helping the client feel more safe and secure, and become stronger and more effective, so that he will be able not only to manage the trauma-related symptoms, but to face the trauma memory directly and gain mastery and resolution. Specific treatment recommendations will most likely include:

Interventions specific to unique problems, symptoms, or situations.

For children, parent (and other care-giver) activities to help the child be and feel more safe and secure.

Activities to help the client feel safer, stronger, and in control.

Activities (later in the treatment) to help the client face and master the trauma memory.
