ABSTRACT

Usually, only one anti-depressant is now recommended for use in people younger than 18 years of age. Your doctor can tell you more about this.

When are tablets helpful? Anti-depressants are most often helpful if you have:

Moderate or severe symptoms of depression

Several of the physical changes of depression (for example low energy, reduced concentration, altered sleep or appetite)

Significant agitation or worsening feelings of suspiciousness or panic

Suicidal ideas and hopelessness because of high levels of depression

When facing other problems such as severe anxiety and severe obsessive-compulsive difficulties (OCD)

When aren’t tablets helpful? Usually anti-depressants aren’t helpful for problems of mildly low mood.
