ABSTRACT

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is an international organization that holds final authority on the national Olympic Movement. It owns the rights to the Olympic symbols, flag, motto and anthem. The IOC is an international advocate for physical activity at all levels. The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) is the national Olympic committee of the US, which establishes and develops amateur athletic activity in the US in order to meet national athletic goals while, at the same time, furthering the values of the IOC. The USOC receives most of its revenue from television broadcast rights, sponsorships and gifts from individuals. The USOC also asks for contributions through public service announcements or similar direct solicitations. Two primary types of Olympic corporate sponsorship fund the USOC and IOC: world-wide and domestic. The USOC publishes a list of its world-wide and domestic sponsors and licensees, but it does not disclose individual donors.
