Use of underground spaces and their flood at the central urban area

This paper studies on the use of underground space for buildings in the central urban district of the Fukuoka City where the flood disaster has happened. Then, the relationship between the use of underground space and the flood damage is analyzed based on the data of the 1999 disaster, and measures for the prevention of flood damage at underground floors are also discussed.
