The authors, three drama therapists from South Africa, discuss the importance of belonging and connections to adolescents, as they relate to attachment, bullying, and social media. They discuss how these developmentally common issues manifest within the context of South Africa, where the culture is imbued with issues of power and dominance. They discuss how arts-based approaches, particularly those drawn from drama therapy and performance-oriented modalities, can help to address social connection for teens in groups. The chapter includes quotes from participant evaluations reflecting on what these adolescents gained from the groups.
