ABSTRACT

According to Oswell and Rootham (1992), sludge production in Hong Kong from sewage treatment work amounts to 15,4001 of dry solids per year. With tighter environmental control and standards enactment, combined with general economic growth in the future, sludge production within the territory by 2000 would increase to between 25,000 and 400,000 t yr−1 (d.s.).
