ABSTRACT

Active Magnetic Bearings (AMB) can support and act as an actuator in a rotor system. These machines are subjected to uncertainties. To consider them, Monte Carlo methods are usually implemented. However, they may take an extensive processing time. In this work, the generalized Polynomial Chaos Expansion is used to approximate the stochastic response of a rotating system supported by AMB. It is considered uncertainties in the bearing parameters and unbalance force. The results are validated by comparison with experimental data. After the validation, a global sensitivity analysis is performed through Sobol indices.
