ABSTRACT

For those of us fortunate enough to have a job, work takes up 30 per cent of our lives and whilst we are not working we are often thinking about it either positively or negatively. Our job (if we are happy) gives us our self-esteem. One of the first things that a stranger wants to find out about us is ‘what do we do’. It determines our contribution to the welfare of our families and our role in the community. Work should be one of the most satisfying and rewarding parts of our lives. It is for some but for many, sadly it is the opposite.
