ABSTRACT

Psycho begins with a theft. Marion, our protagonist, is in the midst of a moral quandary. Having fled Phoenix with money stolen from her boss, she is forced off the highway by a torrential downpour but not before imaginary voices crowd her head, recalling elements of the story we never see. Marion stumbles upon the Bates Motel where she decides to spend the night and wait out the storm. She meets Norman, the rather attractive-if quirky-manager of the family motel. And she hears, but never sees, the voice of Mrs. Bates calling from the eerie house on the hill. What Marion does not know is that this voice is one of many imagined in the film. This voice has been stolen.
