ABSTRACT

The history of ballroom dance is full of important moments when new styles revolutionize the dance culture. The waltz (from German walzen, “to revolve”) is one of those dances; it is perhaps the most iconic ballroom dance there is. Social-emotional learning has become the recognized term for referring to the foundational skills, attitudes, and behaviors that facilitate the development of key intrapersonal and interpersonal skills that help promote school engagement and set the stage for later success as an adult. Self-Regulated Strategy Development is designed for use with students with disabilities (including learning disabilities and behavioral disabilities), English-language learners, and any student at risk of academic failure. The academic area of focus is writing (including sentence construction, planning and revising, and genre element knowledge) and self-regulation strategies for writing (including goal setting, self-instructions, self-assessment and self-monitoring, and self-reinforcement).
