ABSTRACT

Water is the most important asset of human civilization, and clean water supply is a basic human necessity. Due to the population growth and climate change, challenges in meeting global water needs require novel water treatment technologies in order to ensure the drinking water supply and reduce global water pollution. To overcome this situation, highly advanced nanotechnology can be adapted to develop new opportunities in technological developments for advanced water and wastewater technology processes. This chapter is an overview of recent advances in nanotechnologies for water and wastewater treatment processes, including nanobased materials, such as nanoadsorbents, nanometals, nanomembranes, and photocatalysts. These materials have favorable properties when compared with conventional processes reported.
