ABSTRACT

The technical problems to be solved in order to properly interpret Chicago’s cartoon were sobering. The cartoon was incredibly detailed, and Chicago wanted the beauty and delicacy of those details translated into tapestry. I had never worked in such fine detail before and found the slowness of the work frightening at first. I was concerned that I might not be able to complete the piece on time. As the weaving progressed, however, and I saw that it was just as gorgeous as Chicago and I had hoped, my excitement grew.
