ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses gender parity in the workplace that refers to full awareness of the different roles women and men play in the economy and society; open access to same work opportunities and equal pay for equal responsibility; transparent salary schedules; and the value added of motherhood and its complexity in relation to the work environment. It proposes that organizations develop new and deliberate structures to advance gender parity planning programs in alignment with quality management strategies to build bridges between men and women instead of continuing to dwell on gender gaps. Historically, the workplace has been the intrinsic place for men, as workers and bread winners – as the house has been for women, as child-bearers and care-givers. The chapter also presents the reasons that justify the need for a common ground and approaches to improve wellbeing for all as a necessary condition for success and workplace improvement.
