ABSTRACT

The advanced models of the wind generator (WG) plants are considered in this chapter, which are further development of models discussed in the earlier books. The main relationships describing WG operation and also the methods for WG operation optimization are given. Such special features such as a tower shadow effect, active damping, and system inertia support are under consideration. Utilization of the multiphase generators is very promising in the WG of large power; such a WG with six- and nine-phase induction and synchronous generators are simulated in this chapter. Direct current transmission systems with the high voltage are very perspective for offshore wind park, and the series-connected WG gives the opportunity dispensing with bulky and costly offshore substations. Simulation of these systems with different onshore inverters, as well as two-terminal offshore wind parks, is under consideration. In chapter conclusion, the WG with direct-power control is simulated. The chapter enables the reader to better understand the operational features of WGs.
