ABSTRACT

March 4,1985. The roaring winds of a snowstorm awaken me from a dream about Jean Genet, who is wielding a knife in a roller-skating rink. Somehow I know the dream means that Mom is dead or dying. Why the dream means this or how I know this is its meaning escapes me. Perhaps the connection is that death comes as a thief in the night and that Genet is the epitome of night thieves.
