This chapter discusses on working on act two of a screenplay. The process of writing act two tests a writer's resolve. Using the eleven step story structure as a guide makes sure that there are highs and lows in act two. Act two focuses on steps 4 through 9 of the eleven step structure. It needs to open the scope of the story and the character's world. Act two can be divided into two parts for better manageability. Dividing enables knowing where the midpoint is through which one can build to a moment of change for the protagonist. The midpoint features a shift in stakes or the story. Act Two explores the character growth, both physical and emotional. The second act is the maturation of the character. It prepares the protagonist and the audience for the climax of the film story.
