ABSTRACT
In his 1985 study of property offenders and drug addicts, Malin Åkerström observes that adopting any type of crime as a livelihood requires cunning and inventiveness. This is a necessity not only to successfully commit the crimes but also to work the system to one’s own criminal advantage. Designing strategies to outwit the justice system is one way to defend a criminal life-style and to demonstrate control.
