ABSTRACT
The day planner's new job begins, they become a member of an organization that has its own unique culture. As they begins their new job, they will be focused on the work at hand, and probably will be very grateful for a job at all after a lengthy search, especially if the fit seems just right for them. The early stages of career are the points in time to set some standards, based in part on understanding how organizations function. These standards can govern planners to own their role in and influence over creating the right environment in which to function professionally and with satisfaction. This chapter provides some insights and guidelines about the concept of the "client" for planners and what it can mean to them in the practice of planning. They may think the client is their immediate supervisor, the person who directs them and holds some power over them and their future.
