ABSTRACT
Poems and verse can be used to highlight language features such as grammar, spelling and punctuation. There are punctuation riddles on p. 69 and punctuation is highlighted in many of the previous workshops. You and the class can also make up little verses that use your spelling patterns or illustrate certain language points. I am not for one minute saying that this is ALL that poetry is, but if you can get Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar points across in an enjoyable, meaningful and memorable context then life is that much better.
