ABSTRACT
This chapter highlights the importance of combining the mechanics of writing with children’s creative impulse. The author outlines the main principles of the writers’ workshop, and illustrates how a teacher might organise their classroom to facilitate and develop this methodology. Useful examples of mini-lessons and assessment practices will be explored.
