ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue Discussion Papers contributed to the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) Seventh Session in New York on April 16 –27, 2007. Our goals are to chart how these texts construct an expert position as a response to challenges associated with the development of multi-stakeholder dialogue and sustainability as coextensive values, and to identify how this expert position works within a “narrative of change” that emerges out of the stakeholders’ and the UNFF’s attempts to facilitate a multi-stakeholder dialogue on sustainability.
