ABSTRACT

Acute traumatic elbow injuries are not uncommon among athletes. Fall, direct contusion, or collision injuries can cause dislocations or fractures around the elbow. Fractures may involve the radial head, olecranon, distal humerus, medial epicondyle, capitellum, or trochlea around elbow joints. Emergent orthopaedic referral is necessary for any athlete with a fracture or dislocation, evidence of brachial artery injury, or nerve injury. Management of elbow fractures in children differs from those in adults.
