DESCRIPTION

This essay provides an interesting insight into the journal Geocarto International\\\'s work with the UN\\\'s 17 SDGs. The journal has been running for 35 years and its primary mission has been to publish research on Earth observations and geographic information systems (GIS), with an emphasis on disseminating this vital information to developing nations in many regions of the world. In addition, it has encouraged papers that discuss the applications and utilization of remote sensing and GIS technologies to societal issues, such as deforestation and environmental, and land degradation, water availability and quality, urban growth and climate variability to name a few.
