DESCRIPTION

This article considers the contribution each of us can make in helping achieve a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and, in turn, help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, not least Goal 12 Responsible Consumption and Production and Goal 13 Climate Action. In doing so, emphasis is placed on the critical but perhaps understated significance of changing diet, viz. consuming fewer meat and dairy products. Such individual action may be facilitated by governments but in the absence of clear political leadership, not least in the United Kingdom, and radical measures proportionate to the challenges faced, individual actions may be needed to influence political decision-making rather than be the consequence of it.
