Description Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany (newly promoted to General), participated
in the Flanders Campaign in the spring and summer of 1793. Gillray depicts him in
the mess, sitting on a drum, his feet making holes in a union jack. On the Prince’s
knee sits an obese but jolly Flemish tart who strokes his sword suggestively.
Another prostitute marvels at the prowess of an Austrian soldier who drinks wine
from the bottle.
