ABSTRACT

The work–life interface broadly refers to the intersection of employees’ work and non-work or family lives. Although traditional coverage of these domains has utilised the term work–family, researchers increasingly use the term work–life to be inclusive of individuals both with and without family. This entry overviews the prevailing phenomena and constructs that researchers use to understand how an employee’s work, non-work, and family roles intersect, discusses strategies organisations can utilise to promote improved work–life well-being, and discusses special topics and future directions.
