ABSTRACT
The examination of progressive education curriculum and pedagogy must begin with a discussion of the influence of philosopher John Dewey. Dewey’s writings are the foundation for child-centered progressive education in a variety of progressive schools founded in the late 19th century through the 1980s. It is impossible to separate progressive curriculum from pedagogy and that to understand progressive curriculum there must first be a discussion of the philosophy that frames them both.
