ABSTRACT

Data-driven decision making has become a topic of interest in educational practice, policy, and research for nearly two decades as policymakers have increasingly emphasised the importance of educators becoming evidence-informed or data-driven. This submission will describe what data-driven decision making is, why it is important, and the needed components to create data cultures in schools and districts. It will discuss the purposes for data use and also explore some of the challenges to data use in research, policy, and practice.
