These range from the establishment (Colonial Office), to the disruptors (Anti-Corn Law League). They include Quaker and abolitionist (Anti-Slavery Society, Aborigines' Protection Society), religious (Society for the Promotion of Christian Knowledge, Baptist Missionary Society) economic (English East India Company) and the scientific (Royal Geographical Society), and cover organisations from those founded in Britain aimed at expanding British influence (Royal African Association), to those which protested against this control (Indian National Congress).
