Field Perspectives and Clinical Practice

Under the editorship of Gianni Francesetti, Michela Gecele and Jan Roubal, the Field Perspectives and Clinical Practice book series aims to develop psychopathological perspectives and clinical practices that are rooted in Gestalt Therapy. Whether biographical, existential, transgenerational, socio-cultural, or political, meaning emerges from the lifeworld to which it is irrevocably anchored. With this in view, the volumes in this series approach the study of mental health in the knowledge that all aspects of life are worthy of exploration, as consequences, risks, resources or foundations for human suffering. They alight from the position that suffering is not a deviation from but an expression of being human—of oscillations in the experience of presence and absence. Whether active or fixed, pulsating or waiting to be awakened, such suffering is always-already able to be transformed creatively into an encounter. Overall, the series intends to support the development of a psychotherapeutic and psychiatric clinical practice that is open to complexity and prepared to grasp the novelty and uniqueness of every therapeutic encounter. The approach developed by each volume is both embodied and experiential, but also firmly rooted in theoretical knowledge and continuous critical reflection.
