Idioms for Inclusivity
This collection of short, illustrated books for ages 7-14 uses common idioms to explore concepts related to equity and diversity. Informed by sociolinguistic research, but written readably and accessibly, each volume in the set poses probing questions to the reader and guides them through beginner linguistic analysis by suggesting possible answers and discussion prompts. Designed to be used by a teacher or parent in collaboration with the student, this collection introduces bright children to key concepts in linguistics and gives them a clear and relatable introduction to common issues in equity and inclusion and the way language shapes the world around us.
