ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book argues that making the time for the Patterns of Power process in a high school English classroom provides abundant opportunities for students to explore grammar’s power as the ultimate Investigate: verb–an action, a probing, a quest to find the truth, to inquire, reading and writing connection. It provides student writers’ ability to take apart, construct, reconstruct, and make sense of the world. The book explores how to engage high school students with grammar and how doing so helps writers understand that grammar activates and shapes meaning and effect. The Patterns of Power overviews, charts, focus phrases, tip boxes, power notes, and model texts are ready to support us when needed.
