Therapeutic Fairy Tales
The Therapeutic Fairy Tales are a unique six-book series of beautifully illustrated and sensitively written stories designed to support children going through challenging life experiences.
The first three Therapeutic Fairy Tales explore specific situational difficulties – maternal depression, divorce, and end of life themes. The second set of Therapeutic Fairy Tales look at how nature can support children through difficult feeling states – anxiety, OCD, and feelings of loneliness. With lively and vibrant images, both sets of stories explore how children can develop their own resources and qualities in times of difficulty.
An accompanying resource, the Storybook Manual, has been created to offer practical ideas on how to use illustrated storybooks therapeutically. Exercises have been designed to encourage children’s imaginations, develop confidence and emotional literacy, and deepen engagement and understanding of storybooks.
Books by Pia Jones (author) and Sarah Pimenta (illustrator).
